Prof. R. Madana Mohana – At a Glance
Prof. Dr. R. Madana Mohana is a distinguished academician with a comprehensive background and extensive experience. He earned his Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Computer Science & IT from JNTU Hyderabad in 2003, a Master of Engineering (M.E) in Computer Science & Engineering from Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai in 2006, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science & Engineering from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupathi, Andhra Pradesh, INDIA in 2017. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, a Life Member of ISTE, and a Fellow of IETE.
Currently, Dr. Mohana serves as a Professor & Head of the Department (HoD) in Computer Science & Engineering at Stanley College of Engineering and Technology for Women, Hyderabad, having joined on March 4, 2025. Previously, he served as a Professor in AI & Data Science (AI&DS) at Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology (CBIT), Hyderabad, until March 3, 2025. During his tenure at CBIT, he held the role of Associate Director of IQAC from November 2022 to March 2025 and served as the Incharge Head for AI&ML from September 14, 2023, to June 30, 2024. He has also been an Adjunct Lecturer at Botho University, Botswana, since January 2023 and has been the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Engineering Computational Research and Technology (IJECRT) since 2016.
With over 20 years of experience, his expertize includes Outcome-Based Education (OBE), Accreditation, ICT e-content development, and MOOCs. His research interests span Information Retrieval, Data Science, AI, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning. His previous roles include serving as Professor & Associate Professor in CSE at Bharat Institute of Engineering & Technology (2014-2022), Associate Professor at Vardhaman College of Engineering (2007-2014), Assistant Professor at Sri Vidyanikethan Engineering College (2006-2007), and Lecturer at Sri Sai Institute of Technology & Science, Rayachoty, Andhra Pradesh (2003-2004).
Dr. Mohana has also held significant academic and administrative roles. At CBIT, Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, he serves as a BOS Subject Expert Member in the Artificial Intelligence department (since 2022-23). He is also an External IQAC Member at G. Narayanamma Institute of Technology & Science (For Women), Hyderabad, Telangana, from July 1, 2024, for a three-year term. Additionally, he serves as an External Research Monitoring Committee (RMC) Member in the CSE department at Mohan Babu University, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh**, since the 2022-23 academic year.
Dr. Mohana’s publication record includes 66 publications, comprising 9 SCI journals, 2 SCIE journals, 5 Scopus-indexed journals, 2 UGC-listed journals, 14 other peer-reviewed journals, 9 books (4 textbooks, 4 book chapters, and 1 edited book), and 24 conference publications (16 international and 8 national). He holds 24 patents, including 22 national patents (1 granted), 2 international patents (1 published in the USA and 1 granted in Australia), and 2 copyrights.
In addition to his research and academic roles, Dr. Mohana has made significant contributions to MOOCs and e-learning. He has developed 5 full MOOCs courses on Udemy and 6 full courses on YouTube under the channel name “Prof. Madana Mohana R – ICT Channel”, along with 9 full courses as ICT e-Content. He has also delivered 35 keynote and expert lectures, conducted 2 conferences, 5 faculty development programs (FDPs), and 7 workshops. Furthermore, he has overseen the inauguration of 4 professional chapters and project expos and conducted 2 MOOCs / Value-added certification courses.
His professional development includes attending 55 FDPs and refresher courses (38 sponsored by AICTE, 11 by MHRD/DST/TEQIP/ISTE, and 6 through industry collaborations), 14 webinars, and 34 seminars, workshops, and conferences. In terms of MOOCs, he has completed 14 SWAYAM-NPTEL certification courses, 8 AICTE-National Initiative for Technical Teachers Training (AICTE-NITTT) modules, 1 life skills certification, 2 IBM Initiative Cognitive Class online certifications, 3 MongoDB Learning path certifications, 1 AICTE Internshala training, 5 IBM professional certifications, 5 Coursera professional online certifications (specialization courses), and 1 Python certification course.
